Shore Regional Cancer Center is partnering with Shore Comprehensive Urology and local health departments to provide free prostate cancer screening to men ages 40 through 70 who are uninsured and who meet income requirements. The Mid Shore Prostate Cancer Early Detection Program is funded through a grant from the Maryland Cancer Fund and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
The free health screening includes a prostate specific antigen blood test, a physical examination and diagnostic testing that might be needed to investigate abnormal screening results.
“The purpose of this program is to detect prostate cancer in its earliest stages, when it is most curable,” says Lisa Hill, MT, clinical research assistant for Shore Regional Cancer Center.
