Area residents learned about advances in vein care and cosmetic surgery during a free informational session held recently at BodyWatts Fitness Studio, Easton. The program was presented by Kelly O’Donnell, M.D., medical director at Vein & Wellness Center, 110 South Piney Road, Suite 100, Chester, and her husband Dan Laughlin, M.D., Plastic Surgery Specialists, P.C., of Annapolis and Easton.
During the program the doctors gave an overview of their areas of specialty and answered questions from the audience. “Educating patients is an essential role for physicians. An informed patient asks the right questions when meeting with their doctors and makes better health decisions,” says Dr. O’Donnell. “Even in the heat of summer many people cover up their legs, embarrassed with their appearance. Over the past decade there have been major advances in the treatment of vein disorders including varicose vein care, so patients no longer have to live in discomfort and embarrassment. In comparison to vein stripping the new treatment is a simple, non-surgical office-based procedure with minimal discomfort,” she adds.
