Painted nails are a blank canvas for many nail art techniques. Instructor Emilee Kingsley shows students how to do striping, dotting, chevrons, water marbling, ‘caviar’ manicure, stamping, gradients, ink transfer and more in a one day workshop at the Centre for the Arts in Centreville.

In a one-day class at the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council’s Centre for the Arts in Centreville, Maryland, students will learn a variety of techniques that will turn finger tips into works of art.

Students will also learn about achieving different effects from using special polishes for crackle, holograph and matte.

Students must come to class with dry polished nails using a light color as the base. Bring at least three different contrasting color polishes to class. All other materials will be provided, including a stamping set for students to take home.

“Nail Art” is on Friday, August 10 from 11 am to 2 pm. Cost is $25 for members and $40 for non-members. There is a $10 materials fee payable to the instructor and students must be at least 12 years old to register. Deadline is August 3.

Emilee Kingsley is a senior at Washington College studying Business Management. She was a Maryland Distinguished Scholar finalist in 2009 for both academic and artistic achievements. Her interest in the arts started very young and includes ceramics, scrapbooking, basket weaving, crocheting, knitting, amine and nail art, among many others.
