Lend A Hand: Volunteer of the Week – Lynn Evans

13th July 2012 | Posted in News

By Ron Stafford

Q: Which organizations do you volunteer for?
A: I have been a board member with the Queen Anne Colony Association located near the Kentmorr Restaurant for the past two years, including being President of the organization. I also have served as a Girl Scout leader and have volunteered with other organizations.

I joined the Kent Island Elks Lodge #2576 in Stevensville 10 years ago, and I am involved this year with the Lodge’s ninth annual Golf Tournament. I would like to give credit to all our wonderful volunteers who assist with the tournament every year.

Q: What do you find particularly rewarding about volunteering?
A: I take pride in my local community, and I hope that with the work I do, I am helping our community retain its unique charm.

Q: How long have you been volunteering?
A: About 25 years.

Fellow Kent Island resident Ken Barsa brought Lynn Evans to our attention and thinks highly of her and all that she does, especially since she has been a full-time special education teacher at George Fox Middle School in Pasadena MD for 39 years. “Lynn’s willingness and hospitality in introducing my wife and me to the Island has been very beneficial in helping us meet other people. She truly does personify that Eastern Shore camaraderie for everyone.”
