One of my favorite foods is a good burger. The meat I use most often is ground turkey. Ground turkey is lean and works very well with many different variations. Following this recipe will be a few tips on grilling a great turkey burger.
Grilled Italian Turkey Burgers
3 lbs. ground turkey
¼ c. Italian bread crumbs
¼ c. onion, diced
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 tbsp. milk
1 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. salt and ½ tsp. of pepper
Hamburger Buns
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Gently form mixture into patties.
Grill approximately 6 minutes per side. Time will depend on how thick you make your burgers.
Topping with provolone cheese and sliced avocado compliments these burgers nicely.
Once done, let the burgers sit 5 minutes before serving.
**Grilling Tips to Remember**
*When forming your burgers it’s a good idea to make an indent in the middle with your thumb. This will help prevent the burgers from being a ball shape and stay more like a pattie.
*Recommended internal temperature of a turkey burger should be 165 degrees F.
*Flip the burgers once and do not squish the burgers down with the spatula. By doing these two things you squeeze out all of the meats juices. Turkey is a very lean meat and tends to dry easily.
Happy Grilling!!
