Del. Luke Clippinger (D-Baltimore City, Dist. 46) will discuss Marylanders for Marriage Equality’s campaign to pass the Civil Marriage Protection Act ballot measure at the Democratic Club of Queen Anne’s monthly meeting at Fisherman’s Inn on September 6.
In 2012, the Civil Marriage Protection Act was passed by Maryland’s General Assembly and signed by Governor Martin O’Malley. It is now on the ballot for voter approval in November. The law will allow same-sex couples to marry in Maryland. Support of gay marriage is a plank of the Democratic Party platform and one more step to protecting civil rights of Americans to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Marylanders for Marriage Equality is a leading advocacy group on this issue.
The event will begin at 6:30 pm with a social and the formal meeting will start at 7pm. Light refreshments will be provided. The public is welcome to attend.
