Aguayuda (Water Help) is an Easton-based nonprofit public charity dedicated to improving life and health in poor rural communities in developing countries in Latin America. Established by the Zimmer family in 2006, the international Easton-based nonprofit organization is already providing clean water to over 4,300 people in 14 rural communities in Colombia and Costa Rica.
Aguayuda has expanded its Board of Directors during their last Board Meeting on August 4th by electing and welcoming Amanda Priestley-Callis and Cliff Andersson to their board of directors.
Amanda Priestley-Callis is the editor-in-chief of EastonSavvy.com, an online magazine based in Aguayuda’s hometown of Easton, Maryland. Amanda holds a Master’s Degree in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Before serving as the editor-in-chief of EastonSavvy.com Amanda used her fluency in Spanish to work with at-risk youth in Miami, Florida, counsel women and teach English as a second language in Annapolis, Maryland, and also to serve as a Spanish teacher at the Country School in Easton, Maryland.
Cliff holds B.A. in American Studies from George Washington University and is an ordained deacon from the Baltimore School of Theology. He has worked for Bank of America-Merrill Lynch since 1990 and is currently a Wealth Management Banker. Cliff is passionate about projects that serve poor and migrant communities in Latin America and also serves on the board of directors of Lantern Hill in Ensenada, Baja California.
Amanda and Cliff bring important new talents to Aguayuda, which will help to achieve Aguayuda’s goal of improving health, education, and the overall quality of life in poor rural communities in developing countries.
