Kent County Public Library celebrates the end of the “Dream Big” and “Own the Night” Summer Reading Program in which 344 eager readers participated. Children played a reading game in which they were encouraged to read, have fun, and use the library. A pizza party and magic show was the culmination of a summer of fun! The Maryland Science Center, Critter Caravan Reptile Show and Books are a Blast Magic Show are just some of the fun and educational programs that Kent County Public Library sponsored this summer.
Studies have shown students who participate in the public library summer reading program score higher on reading achievement tests at the beginning of the next school year than those students who do not participate and they gain in other ways as well.
Congratulations to all participants in the Summer Reading Program!
