Pulled Pork BBQ

31st August 2012 | Posted in Recipes, What's Cooking

As summer comes to a close we still have one more celebration to prepare for, Labor Day. Choosing the right meat for your main dish is important. Pulled Pork BBQ is a great feature for your celebration menu. By preparing pulled pork you will not have to deal with a hot grill and it gives you more time to spend with you guests.

Pulled Pork BBQ
1 10-12 lb. pork shoulder
2 c. ketchup
1/3 c. light brown sugar
1 ½ tsp. onion powder
1 ½ tsp. dry mustard
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
½ c. apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. black pepper
1 c. water

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Rub the pork shoulder with 6 tbsp. paprika, 3 tbsp. sugar, 1 tbsp. onion powder, 1 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. black pepper. Place the meat on a rack in the roasting pan and make sure to put it fatty side up. Bake for approximately 3 hours. When the pork is done let it set for half an hour and shred. Place the shredded pork in a crockpot on warm.

For the BBQ sauce, mix all ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a boil and simmer for at least an hour. When the sauce is ready, pour over the shredded pork in the crockpot. Serve on buns when ready.

Have a wonderful Labor Day!
