This day is actually an International Beer Day as well.

Saison Ale will be tapped at 4pm. “Saison Ale is a brand new beer to the Fordham Brewing Company. It has a refreshing, elegant, taste to it. Perfect beer to refresh you after a hot day in August!” says Mark Colberg, Rams Head Tavern Annapolis, General Manager.

According to Walter Trifari, Head Brewmaster at Fordham Brewing Company, “Saison Ale is unfiltered, Belgian-style ale that has a brilliant copper hue and cloudy appearance.

Starting July 1, 2010, continuing through each Thursday in July ending on July 29, 2010, Hemingway’s Restaurant is donating 20% of purchased meals to benefit the Character Counts! program in Queen Anne’s County. Patrons must present a coupon in order to participate in this effort. The coupon can be downloaded from Hemingway’s website www.hemingwaysmaryland.com). Look on the left-hand side for newsletter sign-up.

According to Steve Arentz, proprietor of Hemingway’s with his wife, Biana, “We will be working with the many volunteers for Queen Anne’s County “Character Counts”. I have seen this working in the school system and know many of the volunteers. This is an important part of children’s social and personal development.”

Due to state and county budget cuts, Character Counts in Queen Anne’s County will be starting a fundraising campaign. The Arentz’s generous offer comes at a most opportune time. Help QAC Character Counts! continue to work with our children and adults by enjoying good food in a relaxing dining atmosphere on a Thankful Thursday in July which happens to be Citizenship month. Bon appétit!

Further information: contact Jacki Carter at 410-758-6677 or jcarter@qac.org. QAC Character Counts! is a part of the county’s local management board, Community Partnerships for Children and Families.
