The Shelby Kennedy Foundation, a nonprofit ministry, invites children ages 7-18 to participate in the first annual National Bible Bee. The Bee supports the Foundation’s goal to encourage children and youth to grow in godly character through Bible memorization. The Foundation is sponsoring local events throughout the country to test participants' mastery of Bible Memory and Bible Knowledge questions in age-appropriate written and oral tests. The top 100 finalists in each age group will meet in Washington, DC, on Nov. 5-6, to compete, with a $100,000 first prize to be awarded in the top age bracket.
The Shelby Kennedy Foundation is a nonprofit ministry named for Shelby Kennedy, a young woman who died of cancer on May 31, 2005, at the age of 23. Her short, joyful life in the midst of trial encouraged those around her. Her time spent in studying the Bible inspired the creation of the Bible Bee and the Shelby Kennedy Foundation.
A local event will be held on Sept. 12, 2009, at Faith Baptist Church, 13505 Dagsboro Rd., Salisbury, MD. To register, visit biblebee.org by April 30, 2009, after first contacting local chairperson, Denise Valle, at valles4@verizon.net. Study helps will become available on the website as of May 1.
