Kids and mentors have all pitched in to help Talbot Mentors relocate its office. Effective November 1, the organization will serve the children of Talbot County from its new location on Maryland Avenue in Easton.

Executive Director Diana Trams reported that the organization had outgrown its previous office space. The new headquarters include a conference room that will allow meetings and support sessions to be held on site, rather than having to meet at other locations.

Students in the program, along with mentors, helped with all the moving tasks. “The kids have been great,” said Trams. “They have been painting and clearing out closets for us. Mentors have loaned us trucks and helped with the heavy lifting.” Trams also thanked Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams for contributing the paint.

While Trams said the new location is not as visible as the previous site on Washington Street, it does have advantages in addition to its larger size. Closer to Easton Middle School, which many of its students attend, the new office also is on the first floor, providing easier access for both children and adults.

“The stairs in our old location were a significant obstacle to some of our older volunteers,” she said. “The new site is much more accommodating to everyone’s needs.”

A Talbot County Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting is planned for November 10 and a holiday open house will be held in December to welcome the community to Talbot Mentors’ new home.
