I saw this on the WBAL-TV webiste this morning... the following is a part of the article that was posted on their website...

"The Maryland Transportation Authority is proposing toll rate changes to keep up with increasing costs as traffic and revenue drop. ... While standard and commuter toll rates would stay the same, the proposed changes include toll increases for large trucks and other multi-axle vehicles. Also, E-ZPass customers would have to start paying a $1.50 monthly service charge."

At the end of the article it states: "The public can email comments regarding the proposal until Jan. 27 to mdtatollrates@mdta.state.md.us or can send comments to Ronald L. Freeland, Executive Secretary, Maryland Transportation Authority, 2310 Broening Highway, Suite 150, Baltimore, Md. 21224."

Just thought I would pass along this information.

The Giants rely heavily on their run game, and the Ravens are best in the league at stopping the run. If we can put some pressure on Eli, we may have a shot. On the other hand, their pass rush is unbelieveable. Young Joe Flacco will have to stay poised and make smart decisions because he'll be under fire all day.

I think the game will come down to turnovers. Whoever protects the ball better will win.

Received from a friend....

Are you considering having children? To determine whether you are truly prepared for the experience, we suggest you take this set of simple tests...

MESS TEST:

Smear peanut butter on the sofa and curtains. Now rub your hands in the wet flower bed and rub on the walls. Cover the stains with crayons. Place a fishfinger behind the couch and leave it there all summer.Click Me!

TOY TEST:

Obtain a 55-gallon box of Lego. (If Lego are not available, you may substitute roofing tacks or broken bottles). Have a friend spread them all over the house. Put on a blindfold. Try to walk to the bathroom or kitchen. Do not scream (this could wake a child at night).

GROCERY STORE TEST:

Borrow one or two small animals (goats are best) and take them with you as you shop at the grocery store. Always keep them in sight and pay for anything they eat or damage.

DRESSING TEST:

Obtain one large, unhappy, live octopus. Stuff into a small net bag making sure that all arms stay inside.

FEEDING TEST:

Obtain a large plastic milk jug. Fill halfway with water. Suspend from the ceiling with a stout cord. Start the jug swinging. Try to insert spoonfuls of soggy cereal (such as Weetabix or Cheerio's) into the mouth of the jug while pretending to be an airplane. Now dump the contents of the jug on the floor.

NIGHT TEST:

Prepare by obtaining a small cloth bag and fill it with 8 to 12 pounds of sand. Soak it thoroughly in water. At 8:00 PM begin to waltz and hum with the bag until 9:00 PM. Lay down your bag and set your alarm for 10:00 PM. Get up, pick up your bag, and sing every song you have ever heard. Make up about a dozen more new ones and sing these too until 4:00 AM. Set alarm for 5:00 AM. Get up and make breakfast. Keep this up for five years. Look cheerful.Click Me!

PHYSICAL TEST (WOMEN)

Obtain a large beanbag chair and attach it to the front of your clothes. Leave it there for 9 months. Now remove 10% of the beans.

PHYSICAL TEST (MEN):

Go to the nearest drug store. Set your wallet on the counter. Ask the assistant to help himself. Now proceed to the nearest food store. Go to the head office and arrange for your wages to be directly deposited to the store. Purchase a newspaper. Go home and read it quietly for the last time.

FINAL ASSIGNMENT:

Find a couple who already have a small child. Lecture them on how they can improve their discipline, patience, tolerance, toilet training, and child's table manners. Suggest many ways they can improve. Emphasise to them that they should never allow their children to run riot.

Enjoy this experience. It will be the last time you will have all the answers.

You hear it all the time now, drugs (always been here), robberies, assults..car breakins....you name it.

It used to be a RARE occurance around here...when something DID happen, it was all people would talk about. Now, we are so complacent, because we are getting used to it. Why do you think this is happening?
Well, in my opinion, it is the drug activity. More people dealing, more people addicted. Of course, probably the economy has something to do with it. I was talking to a lady at one of our soccer games...she was telling me of the horrific Heroin problem in the HIGH SCHOOLS here in Queen Anne's County. I had NO idea it was at the High School level. Yeah, I knew there was drug usage among high school kids....but had NO idea the of extreme Heroine problem?? What are we to do to try to save our neighborhoods and schools????

Okay....this one is not mine...but, it is a family members...
Every Thanksgiving, after dinner we have the children sit down with Popcorn and watch the "Polar Express". They don't watch it ALL year, only on Thanksgiving night. This gets them all in the mood for Christmas and gets them excited about making their Christmas wish lists, which REALLY helps Santa, A LOT!
Of course, it helps to have MORE then one TV in the house...because all the MEN have to be banished to another room to watch their FOOTBALL!

Okay...now YOUR turn....Thanksgiving...Christmas...New Years....anything....

I did not see any reference to education, and I know that these candidates differ in their approach. Their response is important to me. Could we get a response from each of them as to how they stand?

Looks like the economy isn't going to be improving drastically anytime soon. Maybe we could share ideas on ways you are helping to make your finances stretch a bit, how you are coping with rising prices.

Any suggestions are good and might get someone else thinking about ways they can stretch a buck....

Just a little thing.... last night I had made Pillsbury Grands to go with dinner and had several left over. I saved them and then used them tonight as hamburger rolls; I toasted them and made hamburgers that fit perfectly on them. My boys loved them and ate the whole thing. Not a big deal and not earth shattering, but it made me feel good to not throw food away!

Let's help each other by sharing some ideas!

Anyone else out there despise the severe weather alerts on Atlantic Broadband as much as I do? They're obnoxious.

Last night the alert came through just as the storm was just about over...I mean, what good is that to anyone?

Half the time, the alerts aren't even for around here. I just love have the end of a game interrupted by the news that it's getting windy in Wilmington. Ridiculous.
