This morning I had a revelation. I realized that the Nautica shorts I was wearing were made in Bangladesh. And my Fruit of the Loom underwear was made in Guatemala. Fruit of the Loom!!! This is getting ridiculous.

So I did a little research and found out that if every American diverted just $20 per month of their spending from foreign made products to American made products, we could create 5 million new jobs!!!

In economic times like this, we should all do everything we can to bolster the US economy. And it needs to start with buying American. I for one have learned today to start checking the labels. I hope you will too.

I agree that we can do our part but how about the HUGE corporations that are closing down and going across seas to find the same quality of work but pay less. We need to start pleding to these huge companies to keep the work here to keep the $ in America and in our American pockets!

Pleading? Companies would get the message if Americans took a stand with their wallets. That's the only thing that big corporation understand.

I know its crazy, but they can pay these people low wages in the other countries and thats why they continue to make things outside of the us.

My husband was in need of some new tennis shoes and was shocked to notice that most of the brands were made in either China or Vietnam. Yikes - not two of the countries we would want our money to be sent to.

I saw an article on MSN shopping this morning about buying toys this Christmas that are American made and are safe from lead poisoning. ... Crayola, Lincoln Logs, K'Nex and a few random games and puzzles were listed.
