Eastern Shore News and Events
Bob Wilson, owner of Red Eye’s, and Will Shanklin, owner of Shanklin Media, came to us and asked for help in getting the word out about Red Eye’s upstairs (now called The View at Mears Point) being open during the winter. I stopped by to check it out and immediately realized they had it all… a cozy atmosphere, a fantastic menu and a breathtaking view.
Bob could just as easily let Red Eye’s thrive as a summer destination, but instead expressed his desire to keep his staff employed and help them as much as he could. Not only a great place, but a great business owner… I left with the determination to come up with an idea, but what?
The days ticked by… no idea. The weeks ticked by… nothing. I was muttering our “Buy Local. Shop Local. Give Local.” mantra in my sleep. Then one morning around 3am with a double espresso in me, I ran across something called a “Stop Light Party.” With the coffee pot steadily brewing and the ideas flowing, I began organizing “Stop in the Name of Love.”
“Stop in the Name of Love” will be an evening of fun to socialize, mingle and hang out with friends. Upon arrival, attendees will receive a strand of beads to wear: RED means in love and taken; YELLOW means single, but not necessarily looking; and, GREEN means single and looking. Along with introducing all of our singles nominees and announcing the TOP TWO WINNERS, there will be trivia games, prizes, music and food/drink specials for all.
Mark your calendar for February 4 and be sure to join us at The View at Mears Point. Happy Voting… and don’t forget, if you “LIKE” us on Facebook, you can also get secret access to preliminary results.
Until next time,
Cheri Hoffman, Shore update Owner… Team Member… and Happy Red Bead Wearer
