"We are looking for volunteers who enjoy interacting with people and have a curiosity about the Chesapeake Bay," explains CBMM Director of Education, Robert Forloney. "No experience is required; volunteers need not have an intense knowledge of the Bay or maritime activities beforehand, but merely have a desire to learn and the time to commit to at least two-shifts each month." Forloney explains that the Museum "would benefit greatly from individuals who are able to volunteer on weekends or from those who enjoy working with children."

For over 50 years, the United Fund has been a means to a better way of life for everyone who lives and works in Talbot County. As a strictly local charity, every penny we raise stays right here in our community.
By responding to one annual appeal, instead of many individual drives, United Fund contributors are able to see their human services dollars go further and do more good. The United Fund supports partner agencies that change Talbot County in positive ways, raising funds on their behalf. Participating agencies are able to spend more time meeting the needs of their community and clients, face to face, day to day, 365 days a year.
Thanks to the generosity of United Fund donors, in the past year alone, over 31,000 local individuals and families benefited from the many essential services and programs these agencies provide.

Pickering Creek Audubon Center is dedicated to community-based conservation of natural resources through environmental education and outreach on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.
Pickering Creek Audubon Center is a 400-acre working farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland situated next to the tidal Pickering Creek in Talbot County, Maryland. The Center's property features a variety of habitats including mature hardwood forest, fresh and brackish marsh, meadow, tidal and non-tidal wetlands, over a mile of shoreline on a tidal creek, and cropland. Two hundred and seventy acres are devoted to low impact "best management practice" agriculture. The farmed acreage of Pickering Creek is its link to the significant farming heritage of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Pickering Creek seeks volunteers to assist with citizen scientist projects (e.g. Project FeederWatch and bluebird and wood duck box monitoring,) conservation actions such as native plantings and invasive plant removal, groundskeeping and buildings maintenance, construction, special events assistance, gardening, outreach, animal care, and creative services such as writing, photography, and sketching. Our website lists all of our volunteer programs and events and volunteer needs.
Please contact Beth if you'd like more information about the volunteer program or to be added to the volunteer mailing list.
