Coffee and tea drinkers routinely juggle their love for their favorite beverages with their desire for bright, white teeth. But do dazzling smiles really make a difference? Research time and time again ranks a great smile as a top asset for everything from landing a date to landing a great job. However, the most convincing argument is one’s own behavior. So what do you do when you need to look your best for an upcoming important event?
For many Americans teeth whitening is right up there with buying a new outfit and getting their hair styled. Thanks to a regional dental practice residents can get their fix for whiter teeth while benefitting a local non-profit organization, Caroline County Habitat for Humanity.
The 13th annual White-A-Thon will be held on Thursday, April 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Smiles By Holsinger & Higgins, 10646 River Road, Denton. During the event, Drs. Higgins and Holsinger and their staff donate their time to fit patients for custom whitening trays for upper and lower teeth. Patterson Dental Supply Company, St. Paul, MN, donates all dental and whitening materials. Appointments are not necessary.
Walk-ins are welcome. Participants must be at least 16-years-old. For more information, (410) 479-3644 or (800) 617-3644 in Delaware.
The whitening kits, which usually cost $558.00, will be discounted to $200.00 for this special benefit event. A donation in cash or check made payable to Caroline County Habitat for Humanity will be accepted.
The 2012 event raised $3,340, bringing the total proceeds since the event’s inception to $54,886 – surpassing the benchmark to fund building materials, appliances and building fees and permits for an entire house.
Smiles By Holsinger & Higgins opened in February 1986 and offers the convenience of comprehensive care for adult patients. They provide routine dental check-ups and cleanings as well as cosmetic enhancements to improve the appearance of crooked, chipped, unevenly spaced, or stained teeth. Since 2001 Smiles By Holsinger & Higgins has also provided sedation dentistry for the fearful patient or for those patients who wish to combine multiple procedures in fewer appointments.
Caroline County Habitat for Humanity is a locally run non-profit affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. All donations from the White-A-Thon will go towards construction materials for building houses for families in need in the county.
