3rd Annual Combined Choir Concert at KIHS Unites Students of All Ages

KENT ISLAND — The 3rd Annual Combined Choir Concert hosted at Kent Island High School (KIHS) in November was a triumph of collaboration and community as students from Bayside Elementary, Grasonville Elementary, Matapeake Elementary, Stevensville Middle School, Matapeake Middle School, and Kent Island High School came together for a day of music.

Led by middle school choir directors Kassidy Bowman (STMS) and Sarah Burrall (MMS), in collaboration with KIHS choir director Reanna Sherman and elementary music teachers Monica White (BES), Jamie Dean (GES), and Bayrex Hernandez (MES), students in grades 3–12 created an inspiring choral experience.

The day included a special field trip to KIHS, where students met Principal Harding, and other QACPS music teachers, rehearsed together, built camaraderie, and auditioned for solo spots in front of an audience of supportive peers. The atmosphere was electric as students cheered one another on, embodying the true spirit of collaboration and teamwork.

The event culminated in a free evening performance for the public, showcasing the incredible talent and hard work of these young singers under the bright stage lights of KIHS. The packed house was treated to a performance that exemplified the power of music to unite communities.

“This is what it’s all about,” said Michael Bell, Supervisor of Fine Arts for Queen Anne’s County Public Schools (QACPS). “Giving these students the opportunity to sing under the bright lights in front of their community and feel like a star—it’s a day they’ll never forget.”

Behind-the-scenes highlights were captured in a 30-minute video, showcasing the students’ journey from rehearsal to performance. Be sure to watch and see the magic unfold on the QACPS YouTube channel here:
