4th International Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition

Five finalists out of a field of 73 chamber music ensembles have been selected to compete for over $15,000 in prizes in the fourth biennial Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition. Awards also include summer concert appearances. Entrants represent some of the finest young chamber musicians in the world, and this year hailed from 6 countries in North America, Europe and Asia. The finalists will be heard in a public concert at Easton’s historic Avalon Theatre on March 27th, when they compete in a live performance before the final panel of judges: Pamela Frank, Lambert Orkis and J. Lawrie Bloom.

The performances at the Avalon Theatre on March 27 will run from 1:00 PM to 4:45 PM, and then again from 6:45 PM to 9:00 PM, after which the winners will be announced.  Tickets are $10.00 per person at the door (no advance sales), and are good for the entire day.  Those who dine at one of the participating “Restaurant Week” establishments that day will be entered into a drawing for one of 10 pairs of free tickets to the June 11 Festival concert at the Avalon Theatre, where the Competition winner will be performing.  Each of the finalists will also be performing at a mid-shore venue on Sunday, March 28.
