Adkins Arboretum Hosts Race to Celebrate Arbor Day

Runners, walkers, families and nature enthusiasts are invited to enjoy emerging signs of spring as they travel the Arboretum trails when Adkins Arboretum hosts its fourth annual Arbor Day Run Saturday, April 18.

This year’s event features a 5K Run, a One-Mile Family Fun Run, and a 100-yard dash for kids. Participants will catch glimpses of spring as they traverse the cross-country trail plotted along the Arboretum’s network of scenic forest and meadow paths. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the Kids’ Dash at 8:50 a.m. The 5K Run commences at 9 a.m., and the Family Fun Run starts at 9:05 a.m.

Registration fees for the 5K Run are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event and include a T-shirt. Registration for the Family Fun Run is $10 per family. Prizes will be awarded in all age groups for the 5K Run. Refreshments will be provided for all participants. Adkins Arboretum is a 400-acre native garden and preserve at the headwaters of the Tuckahoe Creek in Caroline County. Open year round, the Arboretum offers educational programs for all ages about nature and gardening.
