Adkins Arboretum has partnered with six locally owned plant nurseries to launch the Arboretum Nursery Discount Program, a new benefit for Arboretum members. The program provides members at the Contributor ($100) level and above a special 10% discount on purchases when they present their Arboretum membership card.
According to Arboretum Executive Director Ellie Altman, “The program grew out of a mutual need between the nurseries and the Arboretum during these tough economic times. The Arboretum is promoting the participating nurseries, and in return the nurseries are offering a substantial new benefit for Arboretum members and thus helping to grow the Arboretum’s membership.”
The program is modeled after the Academy Art Museum’s partnership with local restaurants. The Academy staff was instrumental in helping the Arboretum design the program.
Nurseries currently participating are An Eastridge Garden, Centreville; Lowe’s Bayshore Nursery and Garden Center, Kent Island; Eastern Shore Nurseries and Robin’s Nest Floral and Garden Center, both in Easton; and Anthony’s Flowers and Landscaping and Kingstown Farm Home & Garden, both located near Chestertown. The Arboretum will continue to recruit new nurseries to the program.
