Monika Armbruster, LAc, MAc, has been named clinical acupuncture specialist for Shore Health System’s Center for Integrative Medicine. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the center’s daily operations, including program development and consultation with individuals interested in learning how to use integrative health modalities to enhance their health.
Armbruster, who lives in Stevensville, earned a bachelor’s degree in criminalistics from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in acupuncture from the Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, Maryland. She is certified by the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association.
Armbruster joined the Center for Integrative Medicine as an acupuncturist in 2000. Her prior experience includes leading the acupuncture program for drug and alcohol addictions services provided by the Upper Shore Community Mental Health Center in Chestertown and the Caroline County Counseling Center in Denton. She has also been a private acupuncture practitioner in Stevensville.
The Center for Integrative Medicine provides services that combine the strengths of conventional and complementary medicine by exploring the relationship between body, mind and spirit. Treatments offered include acupuncture, therapeutic massage, foot reflexology, psychotherapy, and instruction in yoga, meditation and other stress reduction techniques.
