The Memorial Hospital Auxiliary recently dedicated a bench at The Bazaar at 121 Federal Street in Easton to honor Richard T. Williams. Williams and his wife, Marge, began volunteering with the auxiliary in 1982, a few years after they relocated to Royal Oak from New Jersey.
Mr. Williams was an escort volunteer at Memorial Hospital and helped with the patient television program when this service was provided by the auxiliary. He served as president of the auxiliary from 1990 to 1992 and volunteered until 2003. He passed away in 2005.
Marge Williams, who will be 94 in October, still volunteers at The Bazaar two days a week. The Williams’ daughter Gail Jenkins and her husband Bill Jenkins joined the auxiliary when they moved to Royal Oak from the Hagerstown area in 2001. “My parents pulled us into the auxiliary as soon as we arrived on the Eastern Shore,” Gail Jenkins says. “They told us that they needed our help.”
The Bazaar at 121 Federal Street in Easton accepts donations of gently worn clothing, fashion accessories and small housewares. The items are resold at reasonable prices and proceeds are donated to Memorial Hospital to benefit programs and services offered to the community.
Donations can be dropped off at The Bazaar Monday through Friday, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Consignments are taken by appointment. The Bazaar retail hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information and to learn about volunteer opportunities, call 410-822-2031.
