Ocean City traffic was interrupted for hours last Sunday morning after a boat carrying eight people crashed into the Route 90 Bridge. The Coast Guard closed off the bridge while State Highway Inspectors made sure it was structurally sound. Some of the passengers were transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center and Atlantic General Hospital. Maryland Natural Resources police charged the operator of the boat with operating a vessel while under the influence of alcohol. Thirty-two-year-old Howard Shepard of Rockville faces numerous other charges, including operating a vessel in a reckless or dangerous manner. He was released pending a court appearance September 26th in Worcester County District Court.
