More than 75 Mid-Shore employees of Boater’s World will be losing their jobs as a result of Ritz Camera Center’s bankruptcy. The Beltsville-based company received court permission to liquidate its 130 Boater’s World stores, including locations in Easton and Stevensville, and to shut down the distribution center in Denton. Ritz Camera Centers, the nation’s largest camera store chain, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection February 22 in federal court. Ritz Camera Center said an increase in gasoline prices and other economic factors led to a sharp drop in sales at its Boater’s World stores. It also said revenue from the photofinishing business declined significantly with the shift from film to digital cameras.
