“The Bosom Buddies Ball is the annual fundraiser for Bosom Buddies Charities, whose mission is to promote breast cancer awareness, research and prevention, and to benefit diagnostic mammography, treatment methodology, and healing. The event will be held January 24, 2009 beginning at 6 pm at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club.  The ball is an elegant, black-tie evening, with a top-notch band, lots of dancing, great food, and silent auction.

Proceeds from this year’s event will go toward the purchase of a hand held ultrasound apparatus which will build upon the diagnostic capabilities of the Bosom Buddies Charities digital mammogram machine already in place in Anne Arundel Medical Center’s Breast Center on Kent Island.

As education and prevention are integral to its mission, Bosom Buddies will also sponsor local seminars by renowned cancer specialists. In addition, Bosom Buddies Charities is committed to enriching the Teodoli Matching Gift Scholarship Fund.

In the past two years, the event has raised $300,000 for new digital mammography equipment now being used at the facility. Already, more than 1,350 digital mammograms have been performed with the new equipment.

The schedule for the ball includes cocktails beginning at 6 p.m., dinner at 7:15 p.m., the live auction at 8:30 p.m., dancing at 9 p.m., and coffee bar at 9:15 p.m.
