Bosom Buddies Charities, Inc. recently donated $12,000 to the Mid-Shore Chapter of Women Supporting Women, to help establish and fund breast cancer support services in Queen Anne’s County.
Based in Queen Anne’s County Maryland, Bosom Buddies Charities, Inc. is a 501c3 organization whose work is focused on the Mid-Shore area. Their mission is to promote breast cancer awareness, research and prevention, and to benefit diagnostic mammography, treatment methodology, and healing.
The Bosom Buddies Ball, to be held January 23, 2010, is the charity’s main fundraiser. Held annually at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, Stevensville, MD, the event is an elegant, black-tie evening, with a live band, lots of dancing, a delicious meal and an extraordinary auction. For the past four years, the community has rallied around Bosom Buddies and this event. Since 2007, Bosom Buddies Ball has raised more than $600,000 in charitable contributions, and has reached their initial goal of funding the digital mammography system and breast cancer related diagnostic equipment for the Anne Arundel Medical Center on Kent Island.
Women Supporting Women is a regional, 501c3 organization, based on the eastern shore of Maryland. It was founded over 15 years ago in Salisbury, where the main office is located. The mission of WSW is to provide awareness, education and support to all those who are affected by breast cancer. The Mid-Shore Chapter, founded three years ago, is based in Easton, while currently serving Dorchester, Caroline and Talbot Counties. The organization also has chapters in Worcester and Somerset counties. The grant from Bosom Buddies will allow WSW to establish a monthly support group and comprehensive support services for breast cancer survivors in Queen Anne’s County by January of 2010.
