The Chester River Association is giving a big thumbs-up to a bill requiring new septic systems be able to remove nitrogen from wastewater. If passed, current septic systems would be grandfathered, but replacements of current systems and installations for new homes will require the new-tech septic systems. The state is obligated to pay for the new septic system, especially if a resident lives in a critical area, meaning that most homeowners will not have to pay a cent.
