Centreville’s town commission is working to improve storm water runoff and overall water drainage through more education. Workers are putting signs near drains showing that the water drains into the Corsica River to discourage dumping. People often think wastewater treatment plants are the source of major water pollution. Dumping into storm drains, called non-point-source-pollution, can be more devastating than water treatment plants or other waste-management facilities.
