Character Counts Evaluation Available

It’s time again to measure our character in Queen Anne’s County. The Six Pillar Personal Inventory was initiated in 2003 and has since been administered every odd year. The survey helps to determine how we are doing in implementing and promoting the character message in our county. The Six Pillar Personal Inventory is a measurement tool used by Character Counts! to identify the need for, and response to, education about the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.

The 2007 Inventory showed the increase in the practice of Fairness, Responsibility, Caring and Citizenship. It also showed that students participating in the Character Counts! program practiced the pillars at the same level as adults, while students who had not participated practiced them much less frequently.

Thanks to the Queen Anne’s County Board of Education Technology Department, we are able to offer the survey online at http://survey.qacps.k12.md.us/ultimatesurvey/Surveys/TakeSurvey.aspx?s=93569434083B4AD5B2E71BB44033D093. It is quick and the site is very easy to maneuver. You can also go to peopleofcharacter.org, qalmb@qac.org,
www.qac.org to link with the survey site.

If you prefer a paper survey, please call 410-758-6677 or you can download the survey at peopleofcharacter.org. They will also be at the county public libraries.

Please take a little bit of your time to fill out the survey. The evaluation helps the Character Counts! Advisory Council to determine how we need to improve our character efforts in Queen Anne’s County. The deadline is February 14, 2009.
