The Delaware Public Service Commission announced a settlement with Chesapeake Utilities for complaints against the company for cutting off service to customers during freezing weather. The utility agreed to pay $55,000 to settle the dispute. The complaint arose from a January incident where at least one customer had gas service shut off during freezing conditions. According to WBOC-TV, Chesapeake claimed it had the right to terminate service after the customer responded to a cut-off notice with a check that did not clear.
