The 2008 winners of the Mayor’s Christmas Decoration contest were announced. Each of the council members chose two winners from their wards. Winners receive a $50 prize with second place receiving $25. The winner of the town-wide daytime award selected by the mayor receives $25, and the winner of the commercial award receives a plaque.

First Ward: First place William Lansing and Susan Caswell, 213 Richard Dr.; Second Place Roger Flynn and Edith Gerrish, 107 Birch Run Rd.

Second Ward: First Place William and Heidi Cochrane, 108 Spring Ave.; Second Place Dennis Fox and Molly Walker, 201 Washington Ave.; Third Ward: Three way tie between Mr. and Mrs. Eric Kirby, 227 Devon Dr., Yvonne Louise Brown, 105 Lincoln Dr., Anthony Butler and Sudonia Gilbert, 308 Lincoln Dr.

Fourth Ward: First place Susan Collins, 411 Bell Ave.; Second Place Harry L. Hart, 201 Cedar St.

Town-wide Daytime Award: Gail Regester, 103 Cannon St.; Honorable mention Jeff Maguire 112 S. Mill St.

Commercial Award: First place Woodcrafts, Etc., Park Row; Second Place Chesapeake Bank and Trust, corner of Cross and High.
