At a recent town council meeting, Mayor Bailey said Chestertown needs to find a way to reduce ‘tipping fees,’ which average $6,000 a month. At the same time, Bailey says she is disappointed with the turnout for the town’s recycling program. At just 32-percent, Chestertown reportedly has the lowest rate of recycling of any town in Kent County. Bailey says if residents do not participate in recycling, it will cost them in the form of higher taxes.
