Chestertown Walgreen Construction Resumes

Construction on the future Walgreens drugstore building at the corner of routes 213 and 291 resumed after about a month-long hiatus. The contractor says ground had been broken and cement blocks for the foundation had been laid when work stopped. The contractor told the Chestertown Planning Commission the drugstore chain was building a store near Elkton that it wanted to complete before the Christmas shopping season. To ensure the Elkton facility was finished on schedule, work was halted on the Chestertown store so workers could finish the Elkton store by the deadline date. The 16,000-square-foot Chestertown store is to be completed by March.
