“The Mental Health Association of Talbot County provides Coffee Breaks for Moms-Dads, which is a support group designed to give parents the opportunity to share child raising ideas and tactics. Dr. Brenda Scribner is present at each meeting and helps to educate parents with new ideas from the field of child development. The group meets on the fourth Friday of each month at the Talbot County Free Public Library at 10:00 A.M. Children are welcome and refreshments are provided.
On September 26, 2008, Dr. Fran White will speak at Coffee Breaks to share her experience with Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP). This nationally recognized program is designed to “”assist families in the management of childhood behavior and development.”” STEP also includes a supportive parent group. On October 24, 2008, Councilman Corey Pack will speak at Coffee Breaks about the importance of fatherhood. Pack emphasizes the vital importance of fathers demonstrating communication, trust, forgiveness, and love.
