Talbot Mentors is hosting a Hardwood Classic Basketball Tournament at Easton High School on Saturday, April 18, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. The public is invited to come out and cheer for their favorite community team, with proceeds benefiting Talbot Mentors.
Four adult teams have registered to participate in the competition. Countywide Ballers, Easton Police Department, Talbot County Department of Corrections and Youth Allstars will vie for the winner’s trophy in five-on-five match-ups.
Kids will have their own activities and competition the morning of the tournament. Mentors and mentees will be able to participate in a variety of games from 10 a.m. until noon.
An autographed Washington Wizards team basketball will be raffled off during the event. Raffle proceeds benefit the Talbot Mentors summer camp scholarships.
The Hardwood Classic is being sponsored by Coca-Cola, Giant Food, Pepperidge Farm and The Athlete.
Diana Trams, Talbot Mentors’ Executive Director, thanked all the sponsors for their generous support, along with Easton High School for the use of its gym. She also expressed her appreciation to the mentors, mentees and parents who are helping to set up the event and staff the food concessions.
Tournament admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children, with kids under 5 free. Raffle tickets are available for $5 each or five for $20.
