The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science has come out with a new summer forecast. It says the Susquehanna River will again be the biggest source of Chesapeake pollution. The report predicts algae blooms along the Potomac River and low oxygen levels in the middle of the bay. The low oxygen levels are caused by pollution such as nitrogen and phosphorus, and the oxygen problem makes some parts of the bay unlivable for animals like blue crabs. This year is the fourth for a summer forecast, and so far all have shown similar problems.
