County Commissioners Seek Applicants for Chesapeake College Board

The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners are seeking interested applicants to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Chesapeake College Board of Trustees. The Governor appoints the member from a list of three names submitted by the County Commissioners.

The term begins July 1, 2009 and runs for five years. The Board of Trustees consists of ten members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Maryland House of Delegates. Two members represent each of the five counties on the Mid-Shore; Queen Anne’s, Caroline, Dorchester, Kent and Caroline.

The Board of Trustees is the policy making body of Chesapeake College. Duties include but are not limited to approving the academic programs, reviewing and approving the budget based on recommendations from the president and  =appointing the president.

Chesapeake College is a comprehensive public two year regional community college serving the educational needs of residents of theUpper Eastern Shore.

Applicants must be residents of Queen Anne’s County
