Crash Victim Dies

Nancy Quimby, 61, of Cordova died at Shock-Trauma in Baltimore where she was taken after last week’s crash involving a FedEx van and her car. According to police Quimby was driving a sedan that was struck in the side by the delivery van at the intersection of Poplar School and Grange Hall Roads in Wye Mills. Both Quimby and the van’s driver, Samuel Wallace, were flown from the accident scene to the University of Maryland Shock-Trauma Center in Baltimore. Wallace was treated and released. Deputies say the investigation is continuing and will be reviewed by the county prosecutors for any possible charges.

Quimby was a 32-year veteran of the Queen Anne County High School math department and coordinator of the mathematics department since the mid-1980s. She was known for the passion she brought to the subject. Quimby touched the lives of multiple generations who attended the school. Quimby is survived by two daughters and their spouses, two stepchildren, a brother, and seven grandchildren. Her husband, Walter Quimby, died in December of last year after being ill.
