Crime Prevention Award for QAC Sherrif’s Office

“At the 29th Annual Governor’s Crime Prevention Award Luncheon on Tuesday, the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office was one of fourteen Maryland Police Agencies to be recognized for their comprehensive law enforcement agency crime prevention program.

Sheriff R. Gery Hofmann accepted the award from the organization and stated “”he was very pleased with the efforts of the Queen Anne’s Deputies and honored to receive the award for the second straight year””.

In addition, two citizens from Queen Anne’s were also honored for their contributions to the furtherance of crime prevention in their communities. Mr. Bob Morelli is president of the Cloverfields Community Association in Stevensville and initiated a crime watch program which in the past year has decreased the crime in that community. Mrs. Sara Smith of Chester Harbor near Chestertown has been a driving force behind her communities fight to reduce crime. Mrs. Smith has organized town meetings, acted as a community liaison with law enforcement and has set an example for others to follow the fight against crime and victimization.”
