DGH Auxiliary Elects Officers

At their January luncheon meeting, members of the Auxiliary of Dorchester General Hospital celebrated the installation of the organization’s officers. Diane McCarthy will continue to serve as President of the organization, which is dedicated to serving Dorchester General Hospital through fundraising activities and by providing volunteers for various hospital services.

In her report to the Auxiliary, McCarthy said, “Your faith in me has helped me more than you know. Being a hands-on President requires 110 percent and I am pleased that I have been able to achieve my goal of attracting more volunteers to our Auxiliary. I will continue to focus on recruitment this year.”

McCarthy and her fellow officers were installed for a one-year term by Carole Kramer, President of the Maryland Association of Hospital Auxiliaries (MAHA) and a long time DGH Auxiliary volunteer. Julie Wojcik, President-elect for MAHA and a past President of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, participated in the ceremony.

Serving with McCarthy as DGH Auxiliary officers are Barbara Barkley, First Vice President; Kathy Potter, Second Vice President; Dickey Hargis, Treasurer; Yoshi Smith, Corresponding Secretary; June McKelvey, Recording Secretary; Janet Lawrence, Membership Secretary; Nancy Gales, Dues Treasurer; and members at large Carole Kramer, Suzanne Press and Doris Brohawn

The DGH Auxiliary provides patient care volunteers in many areas of the hospital, including the Emergency Department, and operates the Hospitality Shop and the Robin Hood Shop, both of which raise money to benefit programs and services of the hospital. The Auxiliary also sponsors scholarships for nursing students. For more information about becoming a member, contact President Diane McCarthy at 443-521-7925 or dmccarthy18@comcast.net.
