A gift with a small price tag is already making a big difference at Dorchester General Hospital. The members of the Auxiliary of Dorchester General Hospital approved a $500 donation that has been used to purchase two new wheelchairs for the hospital.
The wheelchairs have seats that span 24 inches and can comfortably accommodate up to 450 pounds. The Auxiliary volunteers keep the wheelchairs in the main lobby of the hospital for patients who require special assistance when coming for appointments and admission.
Diane McCarthy, President of the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary, says, “We were glad to be able to help the hospital purchase this special equipment. Our front desk volunteers as well as members of the nursing staff now have access to equipment that can be used to help patients who have special needs safely and comfortably go wherever they need to go in the hospital.”
