The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club in Stevensville will be the site of “Flying into a New ERa of Emergency Care,” a dinner dance planned for Saturday, May 9. The fundraiser will benefit the Queen Anne’s Emergency Center which is planned to open in 2010 at Nesbit Road and Route 50 near Grasonville. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes an elegant meal, dance music for people of all ages and a live auction.
Dinner begins with a house salad topped with crumbled Gorgonzola cheese, toasted walnuts and maple balsamic vinaigrette. The main course is filet mignon and the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club’s famous jumbo lump crab cake served with garlic mashed potatoes and the chef’s choice of seasonal vegetable.
Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Bobby and the Believers. This eleven-piece dance band is a favorite for partygoers from across the Washington, DC and Baltimore metropolitan area.
The line up of live auction items is sure to spark a round of lively bidding. Bidders looking for a getaway will vie for a week in St. Martin, a week in Ft. Meyers, Florida, and a weekend in Queen Anne’s County, which includes four tickets to the Chesapeake Bay Wine Festival on May 30 and 31.
A special package offers the opportunity to visit the Maryland Senate followed by lunch with Senator E.J. Pipkin in Annapolis. The package also includes lunch with Congressman Frank Kratovil to be scheduled at an Eastern Shore location.
Baseball fans will jump at the chance to take home four tickets to see the Orioles play the Oakland A’s. For wine connoisseurs, two wine collections are on the auction list. Also available will be a one-year couple’s membership to Hunter’s Oak Golf Club; a crab feast delivered to your own home; and a package from Chesapeake Laser and Skin Care. Art lovers will appreciate the valuable original acrylic painting, “Captivating Spring,” by Eastern Shore artist Nancy Hammond.
The Queen Anne’s Emergency Center is being built through a partnership between Shore Health System, the University of Maryland Medical System and the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners. The center will operate 24 hours, every day and will provide the same caliber of emergency medical care available in a hospital emergency department. This facility will be the only such center in Queen Anne’s County and on the Eastern Shore and one of only three in Maryland.
Tickets are $175. To reserve your tickets and find out how your organization can become a sponsor for the Gala Celebration to benefit the Queen Anne’s Emergency Center, call 410-822-1000, ext. 5481.
