An overnight flight transports you to a country of stunning landscapes, lively cities, stirring history and distinct myths and stories. Adults of all ages are welcome to take advantage of this unique travel package offered September 15–24, 2010. Highlights include the regal city of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Castle, a stone fortress perched high above the city and home of the Scottish Crown Jewels and Holyrood Palace, the Queens official residence. Guests will travel to St. Andrews, the beautiful town in the Kingdom of Fife that gave the world the game of golf, to see the Royal and Ancient Clubhouse and its famous Old Course. Visit the majestic Dunrobin Castle, built in 1275 and enjoy a fascinating falconry display in the formal gardens overlooking the North Sea. Experience a full day of adventure in the Orkney Islands as a local guide introduces this magical place that few visitors to Scotland get to experience. Enjoy stunning and unspoiled landscapes while traveling through Inverness and take in the panorama of Loch Ness, one of Britain’s most scenic bodies of water. Take the beautiful ride along the ‘road to the isle’ and over the Skye Bridge to the legendary Isle of Skye, also known as the Misty Isle. Travelers will visit Stirling Castle, first erected 900 years ago and formally used as a royal residence for the House of Stewart – this is where Mary, Queen of Scot, was crowned in 1543. Other aspects of the trip include a delightful sheep dog demonstration to witness the remarkable skills of working Scottish Sheep Dogs and the opportunity to learn about Scottish farming at the Scottish Wool Centre in Aberfoyle. Participants will learn the art of producing Scotch whiskey during a distillery tour and tasting – see why Highland malt whiskey is considered the worlds finest. There will be free time to explore on your own and strike up conversations with the friendly locals to hear stories in their distinctive brogue, and much more. This magnificent 10 day adventure cost $2829 per person, double occupancy. The price includes round trip air from BWI, air taxes, fees/surcharges, hotel transfers and transportation between Grasonville Senior Center and the airport. Also included are 13 meals – 8 breakfasts and 5 dinners, first class hotel accommodations and luxury motor coach transportation throughout the trip. A deposit of $250 per person is due upon reservation. Optional cancellation and waiver insurance is available and cost $200 per person – must be purchased at time of reservation. A valid passport is required for this trip. An optional excursion available to travelers is a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia, one of the world’s most famous royal ships, that has served the Royal Family in Britain for over 40 years. See family pictures hanging on the walls, artifacts collected from all over the world, and the very staterooms where Prince Charles and Princess Diana spent their honeymoon.
