Natural Resources Chairman John Griffin briefed members of the Eastern Shore Delegation on a Senate bill that would allow large corporations to take over at least some prime oyster harvesting areas, and at the same time ‘strike a balance’ between aquaculture and wild fishery. Griffin also told lawmakers DNR is working on verifying 2008 crab harvest catch reports. Watermen say they caught more crabs, but others believe watermen inflated their catch to even-up with their 2007 harvest totals.
