Janice McCort, Regional Loss Prevention Officer for Quiksilver Stores reported to the Sheriff’s Office that during routine sales checks it had been discovered that the Queenstown Store was ranked one of the highest in the company for cash returns. Further investigation indicated that most of these returns were related to one specific sales associate and these were found to be fraudulent. The estimated loss was nearly $2,500.
Deputy Gradner responded and met with Ms. McCort and the sales associate, Nikki B. Buckius who admitted she would create fake sales and then fake sales returns later in the day and take the cash. She was taken into custody and charged with Theft under $500, Theft over $500, Theft Scheme under $500 and theft over $500. After processing at the Sheriff’s Office, she was released on her own recognizance by a District Court Commissioner.
