“To support its mission of being a catalyst for growth and wellness by offering innovative programs, services and resources, Evergreen Cove Holistic Learning Center held its Eighth Annual Handmade from the Heart art and gift sale on November 21 and 22, 2008 at a new venue, the Talbot County Historical Society auditorium. Friends gathered to celebrate the talent and creativity of local artists and to support this unique nonprofit learning center. Proceeds from the event benefit artists and provide a financial boost for programs at Evergreen Cove.
Timed for holiday shopping, the show featured original, handmade artworks from Eastern Shore artists, including hand-designed jewelry, pottery, mosaic, fiber arts, basketry, glass, and wood crafted items. Artists were available to share information about their artistry and process during the two day event.
Reflecting on the success of the event, event co-chair Kathy Quackenbush says, “”We were fortunate to have a strong core of artists who have developed a following at our event and were delighted to add a dozen artists new to Handmade from the Heart this year. Similarly, Evergreen Cove continues to thrive because of our solid volunteer base, which grows as new friends join us.”
