Few Buyers For Crabs Despite Plentiful Harvest

Wholesalers and watermen are having problems selling the day’s catch of Maryland Blue Crabs. Crab prices remain high despite the plentiful harvest, partially due to higher fuel and bait prices. The rising cost of propane, electricity, and insurance affect retailers, adding to the cost of the harvest. This year’s prices are still lower than last year when a bushel was selling for $175.
