A vacant two-story, wood-frame home at 27942 Old Morgnec Road burned last week, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office. A neighbor reported the fire about an hour after a thunderstorm passed through the area. Thirty-eight firefighters from Chestertown, Kennedyville, Crumpton, Betterton and Sudlersville responded, controlling the fire in 30 minutes. The fire’s cause is under investigation. The home was destroyed causing $60,000 in damage. According to State Department of Assessments and Taxation records, Deshawn Lamont Roberts and Marquisa Edmond purchased the property in 2007.
