Freedom Rowers is currently accepting registrations for its summer season, which will run from June 15 to July 18. The summer program is open to experienced youth rowers, age 18 and under. The summer season will be coached by John Leekley, Head Men’s Rowing Coach at Washington College.
Practices will be held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings starting around 5:45 p.m. Practice time(s) will be finalized as the roster is formulated. Crewmembers will be expected to work out on their own on two additional days each week. Leekley will provide suggestions for individual workouts, as well as workout routines for times when team members must miss practice due to vacation and summer travel.
The season will include participation at least two regattas: Capital Sprints in Washington DC on July 11 and the Philadelphia Youth Regatta July 18.
A donation of $350 is requested per team member, which helps fund coaching fees, rowing shell maintenance, chase boat operation, regattas, travel, and other expenses. Financial assistance is available.
There will be a mandatory parents meeting after practice on June 15.
